Depending on one's source of information, 20% to 59% of all our federal tax dollars fund military operations while an anemic 2% to 7% pays for public education and retraining programs. With this model, we are bound to become a third world nation with a first world military. Is that what we Americans really want? Would we be living out the "American Dream" in a substantive democracy?
